Call it a lesson in character building. Tri-Cities High School in East Point recently hosted a week of activities called "Treat Her Like a Lady."  The goal: teaching male students at the East Point school to show more respect for women.

On the first day, school leaders distributed 400 cards to young men who were eager to either apologize for their mistreatment or encourage someone special in their lives, Principal Dan Sims said.

"With the current images of womanhood being portrayed in the media, young men are challenged to find a positive way to engage with women," said Sims.

The week of activities concluded with a forum on respect.  "It is actually going to be the first of a series of forums focused on giving voice to our students and bridging the gap between “us old folks” and them," Sims said.
