Q: For several weeks, Brad Nitz, the Channel 2 WSB-TV weatherman, has had a white bandage and then a black bandage, or a black brace on his left hand. Could you please tell us why?

—Anne Manley, College Park

A: Nitz broke his elbow and a bone in his wrist when he fell while skimboarding on vacation a few weeks ago, he told Q&A on the News in an email. "I was showing my kids how I used to do it when I was a teenager," he wrote. Nitz added that a long cast was removed a couple of weeks ago and his shorter cast will be taken off Monday. "I'm looking forward to having full use of my weather-map-pointing hand again!"

Q: China is not one of the 16 countries involved with the International Space Station, but is working to build one of its own. Why does China need a space station?

—Tony Gardner, Cumming

A: China has said its space station will be used for scientific research, but experts haven't ruled out military uses. "The Chinese have an obsession with secrecy when it comes to their space program," Morris Jones, a space analyst told the Los Angeles Times. China launched a space station program after it was turned away in its repeated attempts to join the International Space Station, mainly because the U.S. is wary of the space program's ties to its military, according to media reports. The Chinese hope to have a manned space station between 2020 and 2022.
