Cobb County residents won't see a property tax increase this year.

County Commissioners are expected to leave the millage rate unchanged a 11.11 mills. Cobb's tax digest also shrunk about 4 percent, resulting in no tax increase. Public hearings set for this month on the millage rate, required when there will be a tax increase, have been cancelled.

Last year Commissioners voted to raise the county's millage rate almost 16 percent from 9.60 mills to its current level to help close a $33 million budget gap and make up for declining tax revenues. Before that increase, Cobb had cut its millage rate 11 times since 1990.
