A tip from one student led school officials to another student with a gun Friday at North Cobb High School.

The school's resource officer was able to confiscate the weapon and no one was injured, according to a note to parents from Principal Phillip Page, obtained by the AJC.

"I want to commend the students who brought this situation to our attention," Page said in the note. "Students are a critical part of our ability to maintain a safe school campus."

The student who brought the gun, whose name was not released, was arrested. Cobb County school system policy states that a student bringing a gun on campus will be expelled.
