The Bridge Replacement project over Beech Creek in Winder will begin June 1 and require a road closure of State Route 211 for 60 days, weather permitting. In preparation for the upcoming closure, portable message signs have been placed along the route to inform the traveling public of the detour route and impending road work.

The bridge is located on SR 211 and is 1.6 miles west of the intersection between Statham and Winder. Built in 1965, the bridge is now 51 years old. It will be replaced with a new two-lane bridge.

The detour route begins on the west side of SR 211 to SR 11 South and then to SR 211/SR 53 South and continues on to SR 82 East to SR 211 North. The route is a total of 10.7 miles long and signs will be installed to direct traffic around the road closure. The current completion date is due July 31.
