State residents who are hearing and speech impaired may be eligible for free, long-term loans of equipment.

The Georgia Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program, which was established by the legislature in 2003, is available to Georgians who are at least five years of age, have home phone service, meet income eligibility requirements, and are certified as deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have a speech disability.

Equipment includes text telephones; hands-free and amplified and captioned telephones.
