New Smyrna City Administrator Mike Jones will be making an annual base salary of $152,500 - among the lowest in the state when compared to cities of comparable sizes.

Of the eight cities reporting, Class A city managers or administrators for the largest population areas, including Smyrna, earn an average of nearly $159,000 to $220,000 for their base salaries, according to last year’s Municipal Wage and Salary Survey by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Also in his employment contract, Jones may use a city vehicle or receive $500 a month to use his own vehicle.

His phone allowance is $50 a month.

Jones will get free medical insurance for himself and his covered dependents.

He will receive annual leave of three weeks and may accumulate up to two weeks of paid vacation from year to year.

The city will contribute seven percent of his salary into a retirement account chosen by Jones and five percent into the city’s Georgia Municipal Association Retirement Account.
