The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously at its Jan. 22 regular meeting to approve a rezoning request for 168.5 acres on Flippen Road at the I-75 underpass for a residential development.

The zoning change is from RA (residential-agricultural) to RS (residential suburban) for a plan that includes 260 single-family homes and 130 townhouses. County staff said that the plan is in line with the Future Land Use Map, and the Zoning Advisory Board recommended approval with conditions, which were included in the commissioners’ approval vote.

The site has been in operation as a cattle farm by the same family since the 1950s.
