The city of Milton has gone live with its tornado warning siren system. The city now has eight operational sites:

  • Ga. 9 just south of Bethany Road
  • Francis Road one mile from Cogburn Road
  • Hopewell Road north of the Manor subdivision
  • Birmingham Road near Canterbury Chase
  • Freemanville Road near the Pritchett Mountain water tower
  • Fire station 43 on Hickory Flat Road
  • Thompson Road near North Christopher's Run
  • Birmingham Highway near Providence/New Providence roads

Two more sites, Ga. 140 near Old Holly Road and at Providence Park, are planned. The sirens are designed to complement Alpharetta’s existing sirens covering the Ga. 9/Deerfield corridor and the Crabapple Crossroads area, said Emergency Manager Matthew Marietta. He added the city will use its Code Red service and social media channels to relay weather information.
