Lilburn’s Alcohol Review Board met on April 18 concerning the sale of alcohol to a minor at Highway 29 Liquor at 4132 Lawrenceville Highway. On Monday, the package store appeared before the Lilburn City Council to appeal the board’s decision, which included the following requirements: obtain a valid business license from the city, suspend alcohol sales for 5 days, post and implement a policy to require ID for all alcohol sales, retrain all employees on the policy, and hire a uniformed security guard for 6 hours each day May 2 through Dec. 31.

The Lilburn City Council voted 4-0 to reverse the board’s ruling due to a technicality. The problem occurred when the Alcohol Review Board made the decision in closed session instead of during a public meeting. The case will go back to the Alcohol Review Board to decide again in the next 45 days.
