The Lilburn City Council recently approved a policy identifying opportunities and guidelines for commemorative benches, bicycle racks, and flagpoles. The purpose of the new policy is to create a unified strategy for citizens wanting to honor an individual or group connected to the city through signage on or near a bench, bicycle rack, or flagpole.

Citizens wanting to nominate a person or group for commemorative recognition will now complete and submit an application. If approved, payment must be received prior to the order and/or installation of the item and/or plate. Lilburn will select and order the item and order the plate with an inscription. All items will be located on city property including locations like Lilburn City Park, Lilburn City Hall, Camp Creek Greenway Trail, Wynne-Russell House, and Lilburn Police Department and Municipal Court.

Cost for an existing, available bench is $300; a new bench is $2,500. Cost for an existing bicycle rack is $250; a new bicycle rack is $1,500. Plates near flagpoles will vary in price.
