Henry County Sheriff Keith McBrayer announced recently that he will not seek re-election in 2020 and will retire at the end of his current term.

A 45-year veteran of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, McBrayer started with the department at 18 years of age and will have served 12 years as sheriff upon his retirement. In a written statement he praised the people who work in his department and said he looks forward to spending more time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.

McBrayer was born and grew up in Hampton and his family has lived in Henry County for seven generations.
