Gwinnett Commissioners recently approved a roadway and bridge widening project for Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners and Sandy Springs. The Gwinnett Department of Transportation plan will widen Spalding Drive from Winters Chapel Road to Holcomb Bridge Road/SR 140. The $6.2 million project will go to low bidder CMES, Inc. for the construction of turn lanes, sidewalks and a new bridge on Spalding Drive over Crooked Creek. A new traffic signal and drainage improvements will also be included.

Forty-two percent of the project is funded by various SPLOST programs, 30 percent by the State Road and Tollway Authority, 20 percent by Sandy Springs, and 2 percent by Peachtree Corners.
