Volunteers needed to aid in rain garden installation
Vine City Park, officially opened in 2005, is currently undergoing Phase II development which includes several green infrastructure amenities to mitigate the flooding caused by stormwater runoff that plagues the Vine City neighborhood. The rain garden, planted with over 620 deep rooted native plants generously provided by The Home Depot, will serve to capture rainwater runoff and prevent it from reaching and overwhelming the neighborhood’s sewer system. The rain garden will also add beauty to the park. A dry creek bed and a micro-forest are among the other green infrastructure elements part of this phase of the park’s development. The Vine City Civic Association and Park Pride are seeking volunteers to install a rain garden in Vine City Park. Refreshments will be provided by the Vine City Civic Association.
