CERT training open for volunteers
The Cobb County Community Emergency Response Team is accepting applications for July initial training classes. The CERT program trains people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities.
When emergencies occur, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site.
They also can help with nonemergency projects that help improve community safety.
Students must attend all seven sessions to complete the program, and participants must be at least 16.
Applications are due by noon Tuesday.
When: 6 to 9 p.m. July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28
Where: Cobb County Emergency Operations Center, 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta.
