While the national average for regular unleaded stayed the same from last week, Georgia's average gas price increased 5 cents to $3.06, according to AAA.

Metro Atlanta's average also stood at $3.06.

But AAA South spokeswoman Jessica Brady said drivers can expect to see those prices fall. Crude oil settled Friday at $85.58 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, a drop of $3.45 over the previous week, as investors grew less worried the Egyptian protests would spread and disrupt oil transports.

"Consumers can expect to see retail gas prices decrease this week, and it's likely prices will continue to drop next week," Brady said. "Increased inventories coupled with a strong dollar and reduced demand should push crude prices lower and keep gas prices at bay."

The national average remained $3.12, while Florida's average increased 1 cent to $3.13.

Georgia's average of $3.06 is 58 cents higher than a year ago.
