The Fayetteville Police Department is expanding its public outreach program by adding a new unit called Community Activity Resource and Education. Its mission is to expand Neighborhood Watch programs to cover 75 percent of all city neighborhoods, as well as conduct crime prevention seminars, patrol the Ridge Nature Area and other trails and cart paths, enhance relationships with the business community and run the Junior Police Academy, Citizens Police Academy and Christmas with the Police programs.

The CARE unit will have two full-time officers and fall under the command of the Office of Professional Standards.
