The head of the Cherokee County Office of Economic Development said multiple initiatives are underway to make the county’s southwestern edge a more robust work center in 2015.
The area around Ga. 92 And Interstate 75, has historically been “kind of forgotten,” said Misti Martin. It will see improved DOT signage along I-75 at the Ga. 92 exit as well as a branding, signage and beautification effort taking shape along the state highway between the interstate and Woodstock Road.
Further development of the nearby Cherokee 75 Corporate Park will be a linchpin. Among planned short-term developments: the agency’s buying 35 additional acres for the park, selling 25 acres to a company which plans a spec building and the pending announcement that a German firm will locate there.
Martin said the area’s advantages include proximity to Atlanta and the interstate and plenty of developable land.
