The Atlanta Streetcar, in conjunction with Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, will stage a full-scale Emergency Response exercise on Nov. 15 at the Streetcar Vehicle Maintenance Facility located at 275 Auburn Avenue.

The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to noon, is designed to test ASC’s Standard Operating Procedure compliance with activating the notification process in an emergency situation and test AFRD’s response time for working in an actual crisis with the Streetcar involved.

Fort Street between Auburn Avenue and Edgewood Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon for the event. Motorists should use alternate routes to I-75/85 North during these hours.

The scenario for the Nov. 15 drill is a fire at the Vehicle Maintenance Facility, which houses the Atlanta Streetcar fleet and offices for staff members. During the drill, mock exercises will utilize smoke machines and other Fire Rescue equipment. Residents and business owners in the area should be aware that real life sights and sounds may be seen and heard along the periphery of the VMF on Auburn and Edgewood Avenues with a variety of response vehicles in the area.

Normal emergency operations will not be affected by the drill. Directors of the exercise have the authority to cancel the drill at any time if resources are needed for an emergency.
