Journalist Cokie Roberts typed her first Haggadah using an old portable typewriter.
Never mind that she's Catholic.
Roberts, a senior news analyst for NPR and a political commentator of ABC News, and her husband, Steve, who is Jewish, decided when they got married that they would honor both religions and traditions -- even if it meant putting their own spin on things.
The Roberts have written a book, "Our Haggadah: Uniting Traditions for Interfaith Families", that serves as a guide for other interfaith couples during the Jewish celebration of Passover.
The Roberts will be at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
From its start, says Steve Roberts, an author and professor, their Haggadah and Seder were designed to be inclusive, bringing together people from all faiths.
It's a time to be celebratory and happy with the themes of going from "bondage to freedom, from darkness to light and from death to life," Cokie Roberts said.
The Passover observance, says Steve Roberts, is probably the most "accessible" for people of other faiths.
Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Orders are subject to a $3 handling fee. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
