Courtney Frisch, a 2007 Decatur High graduate, was recently chosen as the city of Decatur’s project manager, replacing Lena Stevens who resigned last November.

Frisch, 28, has actually been with the city since March 2016, working as a city planner. Before that she was a transportation planner with the City of Roswell.

With Decatur she’ll spearhead the complete streets and traffic calming programs and staff the Environmental Sustainability Board, among other responsibilities.

Frisch said recently two of her immediate goals are: 1) Conducting a sidewalk gap analysis, or identifying where there are no sidewalks as the city continues its intention to have at least one sidewalk on every street and 2) Creating a story map on the city’s GIS, an interactive map that displays all city projects that have been completed, proposed or are underway.

Frisch did her undergraduate work at Appalachian State University while earning a Master of Science in urban and regional planning, with an emphasis on transportation specialization from Florida State University. She’s also worked as a transit intern in Tallahassee, Florida, and Portland, Oregon.
