Council candidates qualify in Kennesaw

Kennesaw qualifying ended Aug. 23 with seven candidates for three at-large City Council posts.

For Post 3, they are Pat Ferris, a manager; Antonio “Tony” Jones, a small business owner and Jeffrey Oparnica, a brewer. Current Post 3 Councilman Nimesh Patel is not seeking election.

Post 4 candidates are incumbent Jimmy Devall Dickens Sr., a barber; Chris Henderson, a senior research engineer and James V. Sebastian Jr.

The only candidate for Post 5 is David Blinkhorn, a buyer. Councilman Jim Sebastian is not seeking re-election to Post 5 but election to Post 4.

Kennesaw will hold a general election Nov. 7.

Those elected will serve four-year terms from Jan. 1, 2018 to Jan. 1, 2022.
