Although a definitive start time is still unknown, construction of Decatur’s new Hampton Suites should begin later this year and take about one year.
Vision Hospitality of Chattanooga recently received its land disturbance permit, the last step before introducing an actual timeline. The hotel will be on Clairemont Avenue, next door to and south of the Courtyard Marriott.
Although the number of rooms is still uncertain, the new hotel will span seven stories with an attached parking deck. The Marriott has roughly 180 rooms.
This is Decatur’s first new hotel since construction of the Holiday Inn (now the Marriott) in the late 1980s. The additional hotel, according to Assistant City Manager Lyn Menne, allows the city to host large regional conferences which it couldn’t handle with only one major hotel.
