The Cherokee County School District's "First Day Facts" is out in print and online, announcing an expected enrollment of 42,894 on Aug. 1, the first day of the 2018-19 school year – nearly 1,700 more students than the first day last year – and links to bus schedules, breakfast and lunch menus, school "Meet and Greet" times and other useful databases.

The district has 280 new teachers this year, as well as three additional school police officers, a new social worker, and a “SafeSchools Alert” program for reporting threats, bullying and other tips by phone, text or email.

Other First Day Facts: All six Cherokee high school stadiums have new synthetic turf fields; an additional lead nurse has been added to support school nurses and assist with medically fragile children; and slow-pitch softball and gymnastics are being added to the district’s high school athletics program.
