The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has awarded two contracts totaling $283,000 to the Arcadis engineering consulting firm to look at traffic and make recommendations for improvements to Trickum Road near Woodstock.

The Trickum North project area extends from Gunnin to Barnes roads, and Trickum South, from Sycamore to Belles lanes. The road has seen recent residential and commercial development and heavy traffic volumes in the morning and afternoon rush hours, staff said in a report to commissioners.

In the north, Arcadis will perform traffic studies at the signalized intersections of Barnes and Ragsdale roads to determine if additional improvements are needed, staff said. Arcadis also will recommend if left-turn lanes into residential subdivisions and additional sidewalks are necessary.

In the south, Arcadis “will evaluate the corridor and make a recommendation as to the best solution and alignment for a proposed typical section that includes a center left-turn lane and sidewalk along the west side of the corridor,” staff said.
