The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is getting 8,000 pounds of Universal Power Supplies declared surplus by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners.
The board recently agreed to transfer ownership of the 17-year-old back-up power supplies from the Cherokee E911 center, saving the county the trouble and expensive of scrapping the equipment, county staff said. Pickens “has asked if they could have the system, since they have no system at all,” according to a staff report. The E911 center was scheduled to get a new UPS system in August.
In another technology issue, the county board declared surplus 263 pieces of computer-related and telephone equipment – mostly Dell desktops and laptops and hardware including monitors, printers and scanners. Information technology will dispose of the gear with Premier Surplus Inc., which has previously provided computer surplus services for free, staff said.
