The Canton City Council has approved the city manager’s recommendation to reappoint Nathan Ingram, the city’s chief financial officer, acting city manager to serve if need be in the regular manager’s absence.

According to city ordinance, Ingram would serve as acting city manager in the event City Manager Billy Peppers is unavailable to perform his duties for up to 14 days. If the absence goes beyond 14 days, Ingram could continue in that position with council approval.

“Mr. Ingram has served in this capacity each year I have worked for the city of Canton and has also served in the capacity of interim city manager as the position has been vacated in the past,” Peppers said in a memo to the council. “He has a great knowledge of city operations, meeting procedures, financial operations and the charter.”
