Birchwood Foods is nearing completion of its new 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 6009 Goshen Springs Road in Norcross. The company provides fresh and frozen ground beef patties to Wendy’s and Burger King restaurants. A new contract with another major restaurant chain will increase their production to 60 million pounds of meat a year (or 2.5 million a week). As a result, the company will be hiring 100 new employees.

NorcrossWorks, the city’s talent, workforce and education program will work with Birchwood to fill positions from production workers to various supervisory positions. “Our newest economic development tool ‘NorcrossWorks’ will help provide a productive and talented workforce for Birchwood Foods,” stated Norcross Mayor Craig Newton.” The purpose of NorcrossWorks is to provide a locally responsive labor solution for employers like Birchwood Foods and is an integral part of developing the city’s economic future.”

This $33 million investment is the third major expansion since the company began at this location in 1988.
