Sixteen seventh graders from The Epstein School scored high enough on the ACT test to receive state level recognition and/or be eligible to participate in Duke University's Center for Summer Studies or Academy for Summer Studies. Three students qualified for grand level recognition. Duke University's Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation with participation from 6,000 junior high and middle schools in the 16-state region. The program identifies academically talented 7th graders based on standardized test scores. Epstein students who received grand recognition are: Jennifer Friedman, Noah Platt and Noah Weinstein. Students who received state recognition/summer studies are: Yoel Alperin, Becky Arbiv, Nathan Cohen, Maddy Dorfman, Jenny Lee Judenberg, Sabrina Kaplan, Tamara Kaplin, Noah Lampert, Sari Leven, Chase McGrath, Sarah Peljovich, Shaun Regenbaum and Benny Soran.

Four Gwinnett County students have received scholarships from the Ursula Wiegand Scholarship Fund, which is sponsored by WIKA Instrument Corporation. They are: Francis Mai and Shannon Rivera of Grayson High School; Silvia Cherian of Collins Hill High School; Huong Giuong of Peachtree Ridge High School and Kevin Acurio of Dacula High School.

Nine Fayette County students have been selected as summer interns by the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The students are: Emma Brodzik, Jake Voigt, Gavin Lamberth and Briana Hollins of Whitewater High; Rui Chen, Fayette County High; Iman Hart and Kelly Scheulin, McIntosh High; Lauriel Stewart, Sandy Creek High and Richard Wang of Woodward Academy. Students must show a high aptitude in math and science to be selected for the Young Scholars program. They work with UGA researchers to develop science projects, complete a project report and write an essay on the internship.
