Alexandra Vlachakis, who teaches information technology at Sandy Creek High School in Fayette County, is one of 10 finalists in the running for Georgia Teacher of the Year. She helped write curriculum for the state's new digital media career pathway that was approved by the Georgia Department of Education late last year. The 10 finalists were chosen from a pool of 151 teachers of the year in their school districts. The winner will be announced at the Georgia Teacher of the Year conference on May 8 and be entered in the national Teacher of the Year competition.

Former NFL quarterback Archie Manning was guest speaker at The Lovett School's second annual Father/Son Dinner for upper school boys and their fathers and guests. Manning spoke about the importance of leadership and lessons learned over a lifetime in football and as a father of three boys.

Fulton County Schools has announced its 2015 Volunteers of the Year. School leaders were asked to select a volunteer who has shown outstanding dedication and commitment to quality education and the school.
