With the annual Masters golf tournament a few weeks off, Augusta’s mayor will be getting into the swing of things in a historic way.

Mayor Hardie Davis has announced that Hall of Fame golfer Nancy Lopez will be honored at the annual Mayor’s Masters Reception on April 4, according to The Augusta Chronicle. Lopez, who won more than $5.2 million in her career, will be the first woman so honored by the Augusta mayor.

“In the history of golf, the word has [been] an acronym: gentlemen only, ladies forbidden,” Davis said. “Not today.”

In a tribute to Women’s History Month in March, Davis said, “It is again time to share another turning point in the history of the Masters Reception.”

Honorees at the reception have included Masters winners Tom Watson, Larry Mize and Ben Crenshaw since 2004.

Lopez won 48 pro tournaments since debuting in the late 1970s. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987.

The first round of the 2016 Masters is set for April 7.
