The Snellville City Council voted unanimously Monday to deny Brand Properties request to build a 244-unit multi-family apartment complex on 30.55 acres along Scenic Highway near Tree Lane.
In addition to public comment, review of the city’s Land Use Plan and Comprehensive City Plan, the Snellville Department of Planning and Development sought input from Gwinnett County’s Planning Department which urged the city to reject the application and consider a “less intense, detached residential and/or office development” for the property adjacent to unincorporated Gwinnett.
Snellville Mayor Kelly Kautz was not present for the vote due to the recent birth of her son, Preston. Mayor Kautz anticipates returning to office in time for the council’s next meeting, Jan. 12.
