Alpharetta city officials have set Monday for as the start date for a year-long road closure expected to slow traffic in the North Point Mall area.

City crews will shut down the stretch of Encore Parkway between Westside and North Point parkways for construction project that will include rebuilding the bridge over Ga. 400.

The city’s public works director says the bridge fails to meet both current and future needs and that the $14.3 million rebuild will result in wider 14-foot travel lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes and landscaped medians. Officials said the joint project of the city and the North Fulton Community Improvement District is expected to slow traffic on both North Point Parkway and Haynes Bridge Road.
