A worldwide after-school education franchise recently opened two new learning centers in north Fulton County.

Officials with Kumon announced Thursday the opening of two education centers — one in Alpharetta on Holcomb Bridge Road and another in Sandy Springs along Roswell Road. The expansions mark the fourth Kumon center in Alpharetta and the second in Sandy Springs.

Kumon officials said the expansions are attributed to the metro Atlanta region's overall positive growth particularly in Fulton County. They noted Greater Atlanta's 58-percent increase in Kumon centers and 107-percent increase in program enrollments in the last 10 years.

The first Kumon center opened in Atlanta in 1989, and the overall region now has 49 centers 18 of those are in Fulton County with close to 8,200 students enrolled.

Kumon officials said both Sandy Springs and Alpharetta centers will staff a mixture of part-time and full-time instructors who will assist with grading and teaching math, along with reading. The after-school centers typically caters to students of all ages.
