Henry County has narrowed its search for a new county manager to two.

The two finalists are Lyndon L. Bonner and interim county manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews. The county launched its search shortly after Jim Walker resigned as county manager in May. Walker’s resignation came while he was being investigated for alleged sexual harassment of a female county employee.

Bonner, an Ocala, Fla. native, has more than 20 years of government administration experience, serving as both a city manager and county administrator in rural communities as well as large urban jurisdictions. He most recently served as city manager for North Miami Beach where he managed 422 employees and oversaw a budget of $111 million.

Hobson-Matthews is from McDonough. She has worked in Henry County government for 13 years. As interim county manager she is responsible for overseeing the management of more than 1,600 employees and an annual budget of $127 million. She began her career in Henry as a planner in the planning and zoning department . Prior to assuming the interim county manager job, she was assistant county manager.

County commissioners expect to make their decision after the required 14-day waiting period.
