There has been increased interest in Paralympic events at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue. So the first part of a $10 million renovation, that kicks off Thursday, will help make the 20-year-old venue more accessible.

The first part is a $1.7 million project and includes the addition of ADA-accessible ramps and a bathroom to the 1996 Olympic timing tower.

Other renovations will help make the area a more viable option for weddings, and will bring more visitors to the lake.
