Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves will submit revised personal financial disclosure statements after admitting his statements for 2011 and 2013 are incomplete.
Eaves failed to disclose a business and property owned by his then-wife, as well as information about his own finances, as required by state law, according to a report from Fox 5.
The chairman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the failure to disclose those financial interests was an oversight, not intentional. He said he will file amended disclosure forms this week.
State law requires elected officials and candidates to disclose their financial interests so the public can determine whether those interests influence officials’ public actions.
Eaves, elected to his third term as chairman last year, is a management consultant for TalentQuest. He also operates a nonprofit, the Global Youth Ambassadors Program.
According to the report, Eaves failed to disclose two properties and a business owned by his wife in 2011. He also failed to disclose his wife’s business in 2013. That same year, he also failed to disclose his own position at Global Youth Partners and a $15,500 payment from the University of Georgia.
