DeKalb County Schools showed a trend of marginal improvement in the state Department of Education’s Georgia Milestones assessments, released Tuesday.

Georgia students improved from the first year of assessments. Still, though, about two-thirds of DeKalb County students were not performing to the proficiency standards of a test said to be harder than the other test used previously.

Here’s a breakdown of which DeKalb County schools had the highest and lowest percentages of students who were proficient or better on the assessments in the critical subjects of English/Language Arts and math in various grade levels. Not included: schools for special needs students or alternative schools.

Highest third-grade English/Language Arts:

1. Austin Elementary School

2. Ashford Park Elementary School

3. Vanderlyn Elementary School

Lowest third-grade English/Language Arts:

1. Flat Shoals Elementary School

2. Stoneview Elementary School

3. Snapfinger and Fairington elementary schools

Highest third-grade math:

1. Austin Elementary School

2. Vanderlyn Elementary School

3. Oak Grove Elementary School

Lowest third-grade English/Language Arts:

1. Murphy Candler Elementary School

2. Snapfinger Elementary School

3. Rockbridge Elementary School

Highest fifth-grade English/Language Arts:

1. Kittredge Magnet School

2. Wadsworth Magnet School

3. Montgomery Elementary School

Lowest fifth-grade English/Language Arts:

1. Meadowview Elementary School

2. Kelley Lake Elementary School

3. Cary Reynolds Elementary School

Highest fifth-grade math:

1. Kittredge Magnet School

2. Wadsworth Magnet School

3. Austin Elementary School

Lowest fifth-grade math:

1. Meadowview Elementary School

2. Montclair Elementary School

3. Stone Mountain Elementary School

Highest eighth-grade English/Language Arts:

1. DeKalb School of the Arts

2. Chamblee Middle School

3. The Museum School of Avondale Estates

Lowest eighth-grade English/Language Arts:

1. McNair Middle School

2. Sequoyah Middle School

3. Lithonia Middle School

Highest eighth-grade math:

1. DeKalb Path Academy

2. Peachtree Middle School

3. DeKalb School of the Arts

Lowest eighth-grade math:
