Fulton County is working to hire nearly 300 teachers before the school year starts in August.

Fulton school spokeswoman Susan Hale said the district hopes to get the number of vacancies to less than 100 by July 1.

Across metro Atlanta school districts, special education, arts as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are critical-need areas for teachers, as they have been in previous years

Job fairs are on calendars of several of the districts, and schools are getting teacher candidates in the door using new methods, such as online interviews and social media.

Several districts are holding job fairs incoming weeks to continue filling empty slots. There are about 2,000 openings across metro Atlanta. You can read about where the jobs are and the jobs fairs in the full story at myajc.com.
