The Fulton County school system recently received three national recognitions highlighting how it manages finances.

The awards were given by the Government Finance Officers Association, Association of School Business Officials International and National Purchasing Institute.

The organizations evaluated the school system’s financial documents and determined they served effectively as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication tool:

  • Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting – GFOA—Presented in recognition of the district's Fiscal Year 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, the award recognizes government organizations that prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
  • Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting – ASBO— Presented in recognition of the district's Fiscal Year 2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, the award signifies the school system's financial operations are credible and certifies the integrity and technical competence of its business staff.
  • Achievement of Excellence in Procurement – NPI — Presented to school districts that exhibit dedication and commitment to excellence in procurement, this award marks the third year in a row and the 11th year overall Fulton County schools has been recognized. Fulton is one of 10 government agencies in Georgia and one of 23 school districts in the nation to receive the award.
