Three students from McIntosh and Sandy Creek high schools took first place honors in their events at the SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference and have qualified to compete at the national level. Leigh Wheeler of McIntosh High will compete in pin design, Megan D'Errico will compete in T-Shirt design and presentation, and Cameron King will compete in photography at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville in June. National and state club officers from Sandy Creek High will also represent Georgia at the national conference. They are Helen Smith, national region II vice-president, and Cameron King, SkillsUSA Georgia state secretary for the 2016-17 school year. All told, 20 students from McIntosh and Sandy Creek High schools earned medals at the state competition.
