Students in the Cobb County school district and Marietta city schools will have more summer reading options — now that the Smyrna Public Library is joining the school systems' collaboration with the Cobb County Public Library system.

In 2013, Cobb County school district and the library system implemented complementary summer reading programs that include shared suggested reading lists, common themes for each academic level and cross-curricular activities.

This year, both the county’s public school systems and two public libraries collaborated to make the reading program available to as many Cobb County students as possible.

Suggested reading lists for 2014 were developed to represent both school and public library collections, including current, popular books and literary classics.

Students may participate in the summer reading programs for free at any of the 16 branches of the Cobb County Public Library or the Smyrna Public Library.
