Cobb County schools open Monday, Aug. 1.
For first-time students, K-1 students along with their parents are invited to ride the bus on Friday morning, July 29, as a practice run before the first day of school. Buses will run at regular scheduled morning pick-up times, and parents and students should be at the bus stop at least five minutes early.

Cobb County Schools
The Cobb County School District is the second-largest school district in Georgia, with 112,000 students and a budget of nearly $1 billion.
Cobb County is a growing and diverse school system that has been recognized for its music programs. The NAMM Foundation & American Music Conference named Cobb among the Best Communities for Music Education 12 times, and the system has more than 40,000 students enrolled in music elective programs: band, chorus, orchestra, general music, music appreciation, piano keyboarding, AP music theory, and guitar. More than 49,000 elementary students receive music instruction, and it offers a magnet program at Pebblebrook High School that offers specialized instruction in voice, drama and dance.

Ragsdale previously served the district as a deputy superintendent chief technology. He has also been responsible for planning and execution of capital projects approved by Cobb voters and funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
