Parents and educators attended a community forum at Osborne High School to discuss the state's proposed Opportunity School District for failing schools.

The forum Monday night at the high school was slated to include a panel discussion of elected officials, who voted to put the Opportunity School District on the November ballot, as well as elected officials who voted against it.

Osborne, at 2451 Favor Road SW, Marietta, is the only school in Cobb County that currently meets the criteria defining a failing school.

In November, voters will decide if underperforming schools across the state should potentially become part of the Opportunity School District, controlled by the state rather than a local school board.
