A suspected teen armed robber was caught Monday on an unusual getaway vehicle: a scooter.

He is one of two suspects that Atlanta police say they believe robbed three people within 30 minutes and within a five-mile area on Atlanta’s east side Monday night.

Around 10 p.m., the first report was called in that a pair of teenage boys had robbed a victim at gunpoint at the corner of Woodland and Eden avenues, then escaped on a motorized scooter, said Officer Kim Jones with the Atlanta Police Department.

About 15 minutes later, suspects with similar descriptions were reported at an armed robbery in the 100 block of Memorial Drive, less than four miles away.

Minutes later, a third robbery attempt was reported at a location in the 600 block of Kent Street, just over a mile from the site of the second robbery, Jones said.

None of the victims was injured, she said.

Officers responding to the reports, spotted the scooter and gave chase, police said.

The teens crashed the scooter and fled on foot.

One of the teens, a 15-year-old was arrested with a revolver and three cell phones, Jones said.

The second juvenile escaped. Police found another handgun at the site of the wrecked scooter.

Both the scooter and the abandoned handgun had been stolen, Jones said.

The 15-year-old remains in police custody, but is not being identified because of his age, she said.

Police continue to look for the other teen and say the two may be linked to other robberies.
