DeKalb County interim CEO Lee May has said that he won't seek election this year and legislation has been introduced at the Georgia General Assembly to do away with the powerful position. The legislation would replace DeKalb’s chief executive with a county commission chairman elected countywide, the AJC's Mark Niesse reports, and a professional county manager hired by the commission would run day-to-day government operations.
