The know-your-neighbors setting and pedestrian-friendly environment in downtown Woodstock appealed to Mindy Herrick, who moved there from east Cobb County in 2006.
“I grew up in a small town and wanted that small-town community feeling where I could walk to shops and restaurants, post office, city park and be a part of the community. We even have a community garden that I can walk to,” she said.
Herrick, who grew up in West Virginia, carried the small town mind-set into her home, where she incorporated newer items with antiques, glassware and family pieces.
“I love to take things that people have gotten rid of and put it into my home,” she said.
Guests see that focus in areas such as the living room.
“Family and friends are very important to me,” Herrick said. “I have a school table that I had from my grade school when I was a little girl in the living room. I have lots of framed photos of family and friends sitting on the table. On the wall I have masks that my children made when they were 6, 5 and 4 years old.”
