Private Quarters
After eight moves and more than 40 years of marriage, Rosemary Zameroski told her husband, Terry, that she was ready to settle down in an active adult community.
The couple, who lived in Marietta from 1990-2000 and then moved to Tampa, were invited by former neighbors Lee and Nancy Lovvorn to visit their new neighborhood, Soleil Laurel Canyon. It didn’t take long for the Zameroskis to purchase a home on the golf course in the Canton community.
“We walked in and we placed our furniture and it just feels like we’ve lived here for years,” Rosemary said.

Residents: Retirees Terry and Rosemary Zameroski
Location: Soleil Laurel Canyon, Canton
Size: About 2,300 square feet, 2 bedrooms plus a den, 2 baths
Year built: 2010
Year bought: 2011
Architectural style: Traditional
Favorite floor plan feature: The family room, which was spacious enough to break into two seating areas. "It's one big room and everybody can talk and communicate," Rosemary said. "The door to the screened porch is there, so there's the flow into the screened porch. It's conducive to easy entertaining. It's just one big room where everybody can meet and greet and talk."
Interior design style: Traditional
Favorite design feature: The wallpaper in their dining room, which gives the walls the appearance of a faux finish. "Everyone that comes in thinks it is paint, but it is wallpaper," Rosemary said. "It corresponds in a way in the colors to the paper that we have in the kitchen. It's the same golds and bronzes and there's a little bit of red."
Favorite aging feature: The placement of the oven at waist height is among the ways the home was designed with aging in mind. "They've gone a great job of factoring in that eventually, we are all going to be aging. How is the home going to better serve us?" Rosemary said.
Favorite outdoor feature: The screened porch, which they added on to the back of the house. "It is so peaceful and serene up here," Rosemary said. "The vistas are breathtaking. The mountains are gorgeous. To be able to sit out there and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, it's just wonderful."
