MARIETTA
75 Years of ‘Gone With the Wind’
If you are a fan of all things related to “Gone With the Wind,” then frankly, my dear, you should give a damn about this weekend’s 75th anniversary celebration. Across Marietta, there will be eight separate events commemorating Margaret Mitchell’s Pulitzer-winning magnum opus and the blockbuster movie. Among the highlights: live performances, lectures by costume designers, a live auction and book signings by authors who have written extensively on the classic book and film. The celebration begins in fitting “GWTW” style with a gala costume ball at the Murray Arts Center on the grounds of the Mount Paran Christian School. Dinner, Civil War-era music and prizes for the best Rhett and Scarlett waltzing characters will be part of the fun. Events are scheduled at various locations around Marietta throughout the weekend of June 6-8.
Free-$85; weekend passes to all events are $200. 770-794-5145, www.gwtwmarietta.com.
