A handful of well-placed, spring-breaking sources have told us that Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and Sarah Marshall got married over the weekend on the Georgia coast. One source told us she spotted Ryan leaving The Cloister at Sea Island on Sunday morning after the Saturday wedding. (Sea Island is privately held and accessible via guardhouse only to resort guests, homeowners or people employed on the island. The site of the 2004 G-8 Summit, it's a good place for a private event.) Our source heard the wedding band play "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours," and got a peek at the reception site. The decor was simple elegance – small, high-top tables with brown cloths and glass hurricanes filled with shells. Lights strung from the two Beach Club buildings over the terrace where the event was held twinkled above the festivities. Another source says the new Mr. and Mrs. Ryan used the code names "Kevin and Sierra" to throw off suspicion. From the size of some of the wedding guests our sources saw, it sounds like some of Ryan's fellow NFL players attended. On Sunday morning, after valets loaded luggage into a big black SUV, Ryan appeared and shook hands with them. Ryan said last fall that he and Marshall had gotten engaged after many years together, and planned to marry in the offseason. Best wishes to this nice couple.

NFL player turned actor Terry Crews, known most recently as the star of BET's "The Family Crews," and his wife/co-star Rebecca, dined on Sunday night with wife's friends at Spice Market. The, uh, crew enjoyed lobster and steak.

Book buzz

Sarah Vowell, beloved by fans of "This American Life" for her droll essays and unique voice, discusses her superb new book, "Unfamiliar Fishes," at 6:30 tonight at SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St., as part of the school's 2011 Ivy Hall Writers Series. In the book, Vowell explores the history of America's annexation of Hawaii with wit as dry as a weathered palm frond. She muses about what deposed Queen Liliuokalani would think of the Hawaiian-born President Barack Obama being serenaded on his inauguration by schoolchildren singing "Aloha 'Oe," one of the songs she wrote. "I have a lot of respect and admiration for her, not just as a person but as a writer, as a musician," Vowell told us during a phone interview. After you've read her book, the image of Hawaiian dancers entertaining tourists at resorts by performing the hula will conjure the old chestnut about developers who knock down trees and then name streets in new subdivisions after them. There is no charge to attend tonight's event. See www.scad.edu for more information.
